For connected object projects that require the storage of a large amount of data, it may be necessary to use micro SD card storage. Indeed, most Arduino development boards do not have Flash memory unlike ESP32 or ESP8266.

Very helpful and informative article.
My data logger code was fine with UNO but not with ESP32. It seemed that the last logged value was only stored!
I did everything i could, changing CS pin, manually setting the CS, searching the internet and what not!
But after few days of searching I found your article.
All I did was just replaced FILE_WRITE argument of SD.begin to FILE_APPEND and everything just worked well.
